We all have great holidays, but some journeys stay with us forever… and this incredible adventure through the Tuscany region of Italy.

Map of scenic route from Pesaro to Portofino across Italy with key cities and landmarks
A detailed illustrated map showing the scenic journey from Pesaro to Portofino across Italy.

My adventure began in the beautiful coastal town of Pesaro, staying at the stylish boutique, cool Charlie in Pesaro, yes even with me there, it was cool especially that roof top bar a midnight with ice cold vodka shots after a busy day travelling….I think.

A stunning beachfront hotel with rooftop bar vibes, sea views and a boutique atmosphere that instantly made you feel relaxed and inspired. Waking up beside the Adriatic Sea each morning was simply magical.

Pesaro itself completely surprised me, such an lovely town and beach location, with real authentic Italian feel, and thats what travel gives us, so many different ways of forming an opinion of a place.

One of the highlights was visiting the fascinating National Rossini Museum, dedicated to the life of the legendary composer Gioachino Rossini, one of Pesaro’s most famous sons. Walking through the museum gave such an incredible insight into his life, music and lasting influence on Italian culture.

And then came dinner…

An unforgettable evening at Ristorante Lo Scudiero, a restaurant synonymous with haute cuisine from both the Marche hills and Adriatic coast, the incredible food, impeccable service and hidden underground wine tunnels created one of those magical dining experiences you never forget, I had to investigate the hidden wines, Italy truly knows how to turn dinner into theatre, some real dusty bottles of red wine, with a value which would buy most of us a car in value, and the wine with the meal was just amazing.

From Pesaro we ventured inland into the rolling countryside of the Marche region to discover the breathtaking Tenuta Santi Giacomo e Filippo, this beautifully restored 18th-century borgo, nestled among the gentle hills between Urbino and Pesaro, felt like stepping into another world.

A peaceful natural oasis surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and stunning landscapes, where life slows down and every detail celebrates authentic Italian living, a lovely secret escape away, conference venue or wedding venue, for us it was meet the supplier with once again, more amazing food and wines.

When in Italy, you quickly realise food and wine are not simply meals… they are the heart of everyday life, this was only on our 3 day of my Italian Adventures..
