So, as you know, over the years I’ve visited quite a few vineyards and, unsurprisingly, sampled a fair amount of wine along the way!

If you’ve been following my blogs, you’ll know that wine, food and the stories behind them are a pretty big part of my travels.

But even I wasn’t quite prepared for Gran Hotel Mas d’en Bruno.

Imagine arriving at your hotel, looking around at the incredible surroundings and then discovering that the hotel sits within 250 acres of vineyards — and, even better, stepping onto your room terrace to find the vines practically touching it. OMG… how exciting was that!

This was a true wine-country escape and definitely a hotel for anyone looking for something genuinely special, peaceful and completely away from the obvious Spanish resorts.

Set amongst the stunning Priorat vineyards in Catalonia, Mas d’en Bruno feels like somewhere you discover rather than somewhere you simply book, but it will be fully booked, as it’s a real most wanted hotel for wine lovers and diners, even the scenery is spectacular, with rolling vineyards and mountains stretching into the distance, and the whole place has that wonderfully intimate, upmarket feel.

And then there’s the food.

The hotel’s Michelin-recommended restaurant completely blew me away, from the incredible flavours to the presentation of every dish, it was one of those dining experiences where you almost don’t want to disturb the plate because it jusr looks so beautiful!

For a foody like myself, this place is seriously special — and when you’ve got exceptional wine being produced practically outside your bedroom door, you’re already onto a winner.

The rooms continue that feeling of intimate luxury.

Beautifully designed, incredibly comfortable and with that all-important connection to the vineyards outside. Sitting on our terrace surrounded by vines, I couldn’t help thinking, “Now this is my kind of hotel!”

And then there was the wine cellar…

Wow. Just wow.

Descending the spiral staircase into the cellar and tasting rooms felt like entering another world. For a wine lover, this was one of those moments that makes travelling so exciting. It’s not simply a hotel that happens to have wine — wine is part of its soul.

The spa looked absolutely stunning too. Sadly, on this trip I had to swerve the spa because work commitments and a rather important wine-tasting schedule got in the way! Priorities, eh? 😂

Although, thankfully, there was another way to recover from all that hard work in the outdoor hot tub, overlooking those incredible vineyards and mountains.

Perfect for sweating out the wine… although I’m not entirely convinced that’s how it works!

The grounds themselves are simply beautiful, with an infinity pool looking across the rolling vineyards and mountains. It’s peaceful, private and incredibly relaxing. You can sit there taking it all in and suddenly realise you’re a long way from the usual busy Spanish holiday resort.

And getting there was half the fun.

The winding, twisting roads through Catalonia as we headed towards Mas d’en Bruno were absolutely stunning, and those bendy roads through the landscape just added to the feeling that we were heading somewhere genuinely special.

🍷 So, who would I recommend it to? yessssss

For me, Gran Hotel Mas d’en Bruno isn’t just a hotel stay. It’s an experience.

A beautiful corner of Catalonia, surrounded by vineyards, exceptional food, incredible wine, spectacular scenery and a level of luxury that feels personal rather than pretentious.
