Well, when you’re a wine lover like me, there really wasn’t much thinking required, but I do love a good story wherever I travel – even before the wine starts flowing!

And the story behind Quinta dos Vales is a fascinating one, as the estate’s story began back in the 1980s, when the very first grapevines were planted across this beautiful corner of the Algarve, at the the estate belonged to a wealthy Portuguese family of industrialists, with the grapes primarily being used to produce bulk wine, like the sort of cheap boxed supermarket wine we bought when we were younger..

But the story was about to change dramatically.

In 2006, the estate was purchased by its founder, Karl Heinz Stock, who had a vision and a completely different idea for the property, rather than simply continuing its past with cheap bulk wines, he set about transforming Quinta dos Vales into something much more ambitious – a place where fine wine, art, creativity, hospitality and the beautiful Algarve landscape could come together.

An experience I would absolutely recommend, what I loved most about the experience was that it went far beyond simply drinking wine, it was like drinking in reverse.

Wine Blending gives you an insight into the passion, knowledge and precision that goes into producing wine, learning about the process, experimenting with different grapes, and finishing with something completely personal that we had created, and quite drinkable.

Quinta dos Vales is a stunning setting, the experience was incredibly well put together, and the whole afternoon had that perfect combination of learning, tasting, experimenting, laughing and enjoying Portugal, for anyone who loves wine, I would absolutely recommend giving wine blending a go.

You arrive as a wine lover…but you leave feeling just a little bit like a winemaker.

This is a great gift experience, as we have many clients coming over to the Algarves for 4 days enjoying beach, walking and wines, its about getting the chance to create your very own Portuguese wine or happy juice, and a real unexpected travel experiences that will be remembered for a very long time.

Now, there is only one thing left to do…Find My Happy Juice dust off the bottle and finally open it! 🍷
